Reflexology is a massage treatment using specific pressure techniques applied to the feet or hands, where all the internal organs and structures are mirrored in miniature.
Reflexology helps the body maintain health, balance and equilibrium. When all the systems of the body are working in harmony, the body is able to maintain the best state of health.
Babies and children respond well to reflexology and I have had great success treating children with glue ear, concentration, speech and anxiety problems.
Reflexology for menopause. I have undertaken a diploma in advanced training by renowned Reflexology Instructor Sally Earlham in Reflexology for menopause. Reflexology has been proven to help manage menopause symptoms. It is certainly one of the many reasons why I have regular reflexology treatments. The advanced diploma covered additional reflex points as well as training and study in menopause physiology.
Reflexology for Cancer Care
I have completed an advanced oncology diploma for Reflexology with the Jennifer Young Training school. This allows me to work with clients who are having cancer treatment. Reflexology can help reduce the physical side effects that come with the cancer treatments; pain, muscle tension, nausea, anxiety, stress, skin conditions and fatigue.
Reflexology may also help with the mental and emotional side of having cancer. It promotes relaxation, relieves stress and anxiety, improves circulation and quietens that noisy mind!
As a practitioner offering holistic treatments for cancer, it’s crucial to approach each client with compassion, empathy, and a deep understanding of their unique needs and experiences.
- Client-centred care: Taking the time to listen to my clients and understand their concerns, goals, and preferences. Tailoring your treatments to meet your individual needs and preferences.
- Collaboration with healthcare providers: Maintaining an open communication with my clients’ healthcare team to ensure that holistic treatments complement their medical care.
- Informed consent: Clearly communicating any potential benefits, risks, and limitations of your holistic treatments to my clients.
- Continuing education: I will continue to stay updated on the latest research and best practices in holistic treatments for cancer.
- Continuing my education and professional development to provide the best possible care for my clients.
- As with all clients, when you first arrive for your appointment we will begin the session with a thorough consultation to understand your medical history, current health status, cancer treatment history, and any specific concerns or symptoms you may be experiencing. This information will help me customize your treatment to address your unique needs.
- I will use a gentle touch. You may have sensitive or fragile skin reduced energy levels, or specific areas of discomfort. It’s important to use a gentle touch and adjust the pressure and techniques as necessary.
- I will take into account any safety considerations. It is important to be mindful of any contraindications or precautions related to reflexology for individuals with cancer, especially if there are any specific medical conditions or are undergoing active cancer treatment. I will always prioritise your safety and well-being.
- You will be given post treatment advice. Guidance on self-care practices that you can incorporate at home to maximize the benefits of the reflexology session.
- It’s important to note that I am a Complementary/Holistic therapist. While these holistic approaches can complement traditional cancer treatments, they should not be used as a substitute for evidence-based medical care.
