Massage in pregnancy is a wonderful experience. Massage can help aid relaxation, provide support for a woman’s body during a period of physiological change and also help the whole body prepare for birth. It is a fantastic treatment for lower back pain, tense shoulders, swollen ankles, and symphis pubis dysfunction (SPD). The massage is done whilst lying on your side cocooned in pillows and blankets! Although preparing for the baby’s arrival is a busy time it is important for women to relax and enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy. Massage is good for baby too. Mum releases oxytocin, a hormone which encourages relaxation as a result of skin stimulation. The more relaxed the mum, the more relaxed the pregnancy and the birth.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage – £55 (45 mins)
This massage is excellent in aiding lymph drainage from the extremeties -hands and feet. Especially popular in pregnant ladies where fluid pools in the feet, ankles, hands and fingers it helps to drain that excess fluid away using very gently massage strokes guiding the fluid to the lymph nodes. Moroccan Sacred Candlelight Back Massage – £50 (50 mins)
Coming from the multi award winning Face The World Training School, where I trained in their Signature Holistic Facial, this Moroccan sacred candlelight massage starts with lighting a skin nourishing massage candle and allowing the wax to melt. The back is cleansed and exfoliated using black beldi soap and then warm melted candle massage wax is massaged into the skin.
These hand-made candles are made of soy, shea butter, argan oil and a range of other skin nourishing nutrients – so when molten can be massaged as a warm oil into the skin. Because the candle has a low melting level it is safe to use on the skin without burning the client!
