Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a natural healing system used by millions of people for thousands of years. This incredibly sophisticated healing system looks at the body physically, emotionally, structurally and energetically. I use TCM in my Kinesiology and Touch for Health practice so it was only natural that I should be drawn towards a treatment that originates from here! The Hayo’u method was brought to us by Chinese Medicine Practitioner Katie Brindle. What she doesn’t know about TCM is not worth knowing about!
Gua sha literally translated means: Gua = scraping sha = redness. It is used on the body as well as the face. In this case I will only be treating the face and the scraping and redness is more effleurage and a gentle flush!
During the gua sha massage we cover the face, neck and head using tools made from jade, rose quartz or clear quartz. The oil we use to provide a nourishing glide on the skin contains lotus flower, frankincense and ylang ylang. Extremely beneficial for enriching the skin with powerful nutrients but it also smells divine!
This gua sha massage rejuvenates the skin, increases blood circulation to all the important cells, releases tight muscles, helps reduce dark circles and drains built up lymph toxins. It’s a natural face lift! More importantly it is deeply relaxing! It is fantastic for headache sufferers, for those who suffer with facial pain, stress, tired and sore eyes. It is for everyone. You do not need a reason to have this treatment!!
The tools I use are also available at the therapy room to buy.
